Changing business through research

Professor Christine Botosan had her research presented before Congress. Botosan surveyed research and compiled her findings in a summary to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The work responds to the efforts of the SEC to quickly implement International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and discard procedures that reconcile the differences between IFRS and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The conclusion describes such action as premature and potentially disruptive to domestic markets.

Shaping business through education

Starting spring semester 2009, a new course focused on International Reporting Standards (IFRS) will be introduced by Professor Marlene Plumlee. The accounting course will deviate from Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to prepare students for future demands in the accounting field.

Involved with Student Groups and Organizations

Professor of finance, Elizabeth Tashjian works with students as they gain "hands on" investment experience through the Student Investment Fund. Participants manage a real portfolio of exchange-listed stocks, bonds and money market investments.
