Department of Operations and Information Systems

CRCCThe Department of Operations and Information Systems is home to faculty in information systems (IS) and operations management (OM).  The department currently offers bachelors and masters degrees in IS, a masters of statistics degree and PhD emphases in OM and IS.  

 As technology constantly evolves as an essential component of business, professionals in IS keep industry moving. In the IS programs you will learn the tools to manage the technical direction of business, solve technological issues, and implement new technological advances to enrich business operation.

 OM is about converting inputs to outputs in a way that adds value.  Such conversion takes place within processes and as such OM is concerned with process management and improvement.  Almost all major companies have complex operations which need to be managed well to maximize company profits.  Operations managers can work in many different types of positions in all types of industries.  Topics that will be learned in OM classes include supply chain management, project management, process control and improvement, quality management, Six Sigma, inventory management, planning, scheduling, forecasting, simulation and more.
